JioCloud on Chromebook

To integrate JioCloud with your Chromebook, follow these advanced steps:

  • Install the Extension: Begin by installing the JioCloud Chromebook extension from the Chrome Web Store. You can access it via this link.
  • Authenticate Your Account: After the installation, launch the extension and sign in using your JioCloud credentials. If you are not yet a member, you have the option to create a new account.
  • Mount JioCloud in the Files App: Once authenticated, navigate to the extension settings and select the "Mount JioCloud" option within your Chromebook’s extensionapp. This action will establish a seamless connection between JioCloud and your device.
  • Access Your Files: With JioCloud successfully mounted, open your Chromebook's Files app. You will find a dedicated JioCloud folder or section within the file management interface. This folder represents your JioCloud storage, allowing you to manage and access your cloud files with the same ease as local files.

Once you login to JioCloud, your files available on JioCloud will be automatically synchronized with your Chromebook. However, please note that syncing only syncs the metadata of your content stored in JioCloud, not the actual physical files. The files are downloaded to the Chromebook only when they are manually downloaded by the user or accessed for editing.

To upload files to JioCloud from a Chromebook, follow these steps:

  • Using Copy and Paste:
  • Right-click on the file or folder you wish to upload and select "Copy" or "Cut" from the context menu.
  • Navigate to your JioCloud folder and right-click within it, then choose "Paste."
  • The selected files or folders will be copied to your local JioCloud folder and will simultaneously upload to JioCloud.
  • Using Drag and Drop:
  • Alternatively, you can drag and drop the files or folders directly into the JioCloud folder to initiate the upload process.

No, syncing JioCloud files with your Chromebook does not consume physical space on your local disk. The process involves retrieving only the metadata of the files stored in JioCloud, rather than the files themselves. Local disk space is utilized only when the files are actively downloaded or accessed on your Chromebook.

No, JioCloud does not support selective synchronization of items to your Chromebook. Any files and folders you upload to JioCloud will be automatically synchronized with the file app on your Chromebook. Consequently, you will have access to your files and folders from any location, provided you have an internet connection.

There are two methods for sharing files via the JioCloud File Manager app:

Share via Third-Party Applications:
  • Right-click on the file you wish to share. From the context menu, select the 'Share' option.
  • This action will open the Share interface, allowing you to choose the desired application (such as Google Photos) and select 'Upload'.

  • Share as a Link:
  • Right-click on the file you intend to share.
  • From the context menu, select 'Share as Link'. This will generate a link, which can be copied and can be shared as needed.
  • When recipients open the link in their browser, they will be directed to a page displaying the file you have shared.
  • Upon logging into the JioCloud extension on your Chromebook, locate and click the JioCloud icon within the Chrome browser extension section. This action will present a comprehensive overview of your account, including essential details such as your name, email address, and current storage quota.

JioCloud File Manager app unmounts from the Chromebook Files app when the user logs out from the JioCloud File Manager app.
