File Upload and Auto Backup

You can upload your files to JioCloud using any of the JioCloud apps.

For Mobile Devices:

  • Auto-Backup:Enable Auto Backup from the app settings (Settings -> Auto Backup) if you wish to automatically back up your content or upload entire folders. Choose file types, folders, and the upload. Your backed-up content will be available in the ‘My Files’ -> ‘All Files’ section on JioCloud.
  • Manual Upload:Use the ‘Upload (+)’ button on the files screen to select and upload photos, videos, music or documents.

For the JioCloud Website:

  • Drag and drop files or folders directly onto the web interface to upload them.

JioCloud triggers the backup of your selected content immediately upon its availability on the device. For example, if you have enabled contacts backup, any newly created or updated contact will be instantaneously backed up to JioCloud. Similarly, if you have enabled the backup for camera photos, the backup process will begin as soon as a new photo is captured or added to device.

Automatic backup on your JioCloud account may stop under the following circumstances:

  • Low Battery: If your device's battery level falls below 15%, the backup process will automatically pause and will resume once the battery level surpasses this threshold.
  • Network Settings: If you have configured the backup to occur only over Wi-Fi and you are currently using mobile data, the backup will be paused.
  • Pending App Update: If there is a mandatory update for the JioCloud app that has not been installed, the backup process will be interrupted.
  • Insufficient Storage: If your JioCloud account lacks sufficient storage space to accommodate additional files, the backup will be halted.

Photos, Videos, Contacts, Messages, Audio files, Documents (Word, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) are some common file types that you can upload in your JioCloud account. JioCloud supports more than 100 different file formats.

Enabling background uploading in the settings screen of the iOS app allows JioCloud to continuously back up your data, even when the app is running in the background. This functionality utilizes location changes to initiate the backup process. For this feature to operate effectively, JioCloud requires access to your device's location. However, it's important to note that JioCloud does not gather or store your location information.

To ensure your files are automatically uploaded in the background, you need to allow JioCloud to use data in the background. Otherwise, backups will only occur when the JioCloud app is actively open on your phone.

For Stock Android Devices (e.g., Pixel):

  • Open Android Settings on your phone.
  • Navigate to 'Network & internet'.
