Sharing
JioCloud offers two distinct methods for sharing files:
- Public Link: Generate a link to the desired file or folder and share it via SMS, social media channels, or email. Anyone with this link can access the file or folder without needing to log in to JioCloud.
- Private Share: This option allows you to add specific individuals via their email addresses or phone numbers, granting them permission to view or edit your files. Only those explicitly added can access the shared files, and they must log in to JioCloud to do so.
On JioCloud, you can share multiple files using two distinct methods:
- Public Link: Select multiple files or folders and generate a public link that can be shared with others.
- Private Share: Create a folder on JioCloud, move or copy the desired files into this folder, and share the folder privately using the Private Share option.
To create a Private Share on JioCloud, follow these steps:
- Select the desired file or folder.
- Click on the 'Share' icon.
- Choose the 'Private Share' option.
- Add your friends or colleagues by entering their email addresses or phone numbers.
- Assign the appropriate access level: 'View' or 'Edit'.
- Individuals with 'View' access can only view the files.
- Those with 'Edit' access can delete, update, or rename files.
This process ensures that your shared content is accessible only to specified individuals, with controlled permissions.
To generate a Public Share Link on JioCloud and share it with others, follow these steps:
- Select the desired file or folder.
- Click on the 'Share' icon and then select 'Get Link.'
This action will create a JioCloud public share link, which will be automatically copied to your clipboard, making it ready for sharing. By default, the permissions for this link will be set to 'Anyone with the link can view.'
To unshare files or folders that you have previously shared on JioCloud, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the 'Private Share' option for the specific file or folder you wish to unshare.
- Access the list of users with whom you have shared the file or folder by selecting 'Manage Access.'
- Review the permissions granted and select 'Remove' for each user you wish to revoke access from.
- Once you have made the necessary changes, confirm by clicking 'Save' or 'Done.'
The "Shared by Me" section in JioCloud provides a comprehensive list of all files and folders that you have shared. For folders that have been shared privately, a people icon will appear within the folder thumbnail to indicate the inclusion of specific individuals. Additionally, you can manage the settings for your shared files and folders directly from this interface.
The JioCloud section ‘Shared with me’ displays list of all the objects that are Shared with you by other JioCloud users. You can perform all the permissible operations on the object depending on the permission assigned to you.
The 'Shared Links' section in JioCloud presents a comprehensive list of all publicly shared links. This section allows you to manage these shared links by providing options to copy or delete any link that has been created.
On JioCloud, depending on your role and eligibility, you can adjust the permissions or remove users by navigating to the ‘Manage Access’ section within Private Share (accessible through the ’Add People' option) or by selecting 'File Info'.
On JioCloud, file operations such as copying and pasting depend on your role's permissions. To modify permissions or remove users, you may navigate to the 'Private Share (Add People)' or 'File Info' sections, depending on your role eligibility.
On JioCloud, you can download the file(s) shared with you by tapping on the download icon, irrespective of the role.
If you have Edit permission on the shared file/folder on JioCloud, you can rename that file/folder by selecting the Rename option.
When the owner of a shared file or folder deletes the item from JioCloud, it is removed for all users with access to that share. The deleted files are moved to the owner's Trash. The owner has the option to restore these items to their original locations within JioCloud. Once restored, the files will be accessible again to all users who were part of the original sharing arrangement.
In JioCloud File Share, members hold various roles, each with distinct permissions:
- Viewer Role: Members with viewer access are restricted from deleting any files shared with them.
- Editor Role: Members with editor privileges possess comprehensive rights to modify the share, including the ability to add or delete files and manage users.
If an editor removes files created by other users, these files will be eliminated from the shared space for all members. The deleted files will be transferred to the 'All Files' section of the owner’s account. Similarly, if an editor deletes a folder, it will be removed from the shared space for all members and also be moved to the owner's 'All Files' section.
When an editor deletes files or folders that they themselves have uploaded, these items will be deleted from the shared space for all members and will subsequently appear in the owner's 'All Files' section. Given that the share is owned by the owner, any deleted content will be treated as if it originated from the owner’s account.
To restore shared files, the owner must either manually re-add them to the Shared folder or create a new share. Alternatively, other editors would need to re-upload the files to the shared folder.
On JioCloud, selecting the File Info tab navigates the user to a screen comprising three sections: File Details, Activity, and Comments. The File Details section provides comprehensive information about the object in question. The Activity tab enumerates all significant actions and operations performed on the object. The Comments section lists all remarks posted regarding the object, and, depending on the user's access permissions, allows the user to contribute comments as well.
To track activities on your shared items in JioCloud, navigate to the 'File Info' option. This will direct you to a comprehensive screen featuring the 'Details,' 'Activity,' and 'Comments' sections. The 'Comments' tab provides a detailed list of all comments associated with the item.
On JioCloud, tapping on the File Info option takes the user to a screen having sections of Details, Activity and Comments. Comments tab displays list of all the comments posted on the object.
If you have chosen 'Hide my email' during Apple login, then the file/folder shared privately with you cannot be accessed. In case of private share, our system verifies the user by matching the email ID shared by the sender with the email ID of the receiver stored in the system. With 'Hide my email', Apple doesn't send the original email ID to us and hence the verification fails. Alternatively, you can request file/folder sharing via 'Share link' option.
